Bridling the Dragon’s Head
Spring and Summer of 2022 present a remarkable time free of arduous, long-lasting astrological themes. For this reason, every aspect that occurs is delightfully (or painfully) prescient in its effect, allowing us the opportunity to indulge in the experience of the present moment without the usual background noise and distractions. This also allows us to reflect deeply on the long-lasting transits occurring in our own individual charts, bringing the messages they hold clearly into view.
Onto the juicy details of now and how we can put reins on the Dragon’s Head of our destiny.
Venus has been squaring Pluto this last week injecting any romantic engagements with potential power plays, the desire to dominate, and/or the power to transform ourselves and others - all while swimming through the deepest waters of our subconscious urges. This aspect is quick and was strongest May 24th-27th. Today, Venus breaks into 0° Taurus, reducing the potency of this intoxicating spell.
Mercury sits by, squaring Saturn and providing a constant reminder, and potentially a guilt trip, about the commitments or personal boundaries Venus and Pluto might have blown past. The image that comes to mind is an angel on one shoulder with the devil on the other. Mars conjunct Jupiter in Aries adds fuel to this fire and one is much more likely to act on their devilish desires.
Meanwhile, Pluto is trine Mercury and both are sextile Neptune suggesting two paths - either find and grasp tightly to your personal ideals, or get deliciously lost and deal with the ramifications later. Saturn is dynamically sextile Venus so it’s curiously possible for a stable influence to precipitate out of last week’s red-hot shenanigans.
This lusty transit is quick, but impactful, as it escorts us into the more substantial aspects of the weeks to come.
In the early morning of Monday May 30th, a new moon in Gemini is born, delivering us into a refreshingly calm atmosphere to put together the pieces of what [the hell] we are doing with our lives. By Friday June 3rd, we might just have an answer, or at the very least, an inkling.
True love has the potential to follow in the footsteps of lust as Cupido in Leo and Saturn in Aquarius are working in tandem to create a grand cross in square to the North Node in Taurus and the South Node in Scorpio.
Saturn began this square in Mid March and the aspect peeked in the first two weeks of April, asking us what we were willing to commit to in our closest partnerships. However, it is very auspicious that fatherly Saturn still has his eyes on the Nodes as cupid draws his arrow and joins the Nodes in the 22° degree. The degree here is meaningful and almost comical as the 22nd degree is that of the assassin - imagine cutie pie cupid with his laser vision on. He’ll be quite cunning this time around and may just hit his target. If you don’t have a steamy love story brewing up, this could also relate to finding your life’s greatest passions.
The North Node is known in astrology as the Dragon’s Head. It holds our destiny, karma, and represents the path of our spiritual evolution. Right now, our romantic influences stand to have an enormous capacity to usher us onto this path. Even if the person of interest misses cupid’s point all together, our direction could be forever changed.
Please note the prominence of this aspect in the big red square pictured above. Although nuanced, this is a primary influence now through June 14th. However, I see Friday June 3rd as a day of revelation when a kite or bow formation will point the way towards our next steps with Neptune in Pisces and the Moon in Cancer acting as our guides.
The conveyance of messages is a strong theme as communicative Mercury is heavily engaged with the North Node, Saturn and Pluto. Friday June 3rd is also Mercury’s first day acting direct after an intense 3-week phase of retrograding and he will have much to say after processing the perspective-changing lunar eclipse that occurred in Gemini May 15-16th.
The image above is highly directional, favoring the North Node and our future-progressed path as it is clad with Mercury now and will receive follow-up visits from Uranus, asteroid Athena, Venus, and Mars in the next couple of weeks and months.
What if you aren’t ready for the next step into the unknown? Rest assured, there is an honorable path through spiritual retreat back to safety and security, and maybe the arms of a previous lover, should one not be up to the challenges (and rewards) ahead.
