Shifting Sands Pluto in Aquarius

The Sun and Pluto are ringing in a whole new era as they move into 0º Aquarius and bring light to the forces that will work on us for the next two decades. The Moon trines them both today, giving us the opportunity to internalize this new beginning and what it might mean for us as individuals. Indeed, our individuality will become more of a focus now through 2044 as Pluto charts his slow path through independent Aquarius. It is likely we will find less shelter in greater social complexes and feel as though the pressures in our life are affecting few others, or only us uniquely.

Though Aquarius is a highly individualistic and intellectual sign, it is also highly creative, driven by ideals, freedom-loving, and full of passion for the human spirit. As Pluto moves through Aquarius, we will see power complexes assert themselves less through social contracts and more through heady idealism that may not be grounded in reality. We will also see people make incredible strides in developing their own personal power. As the outermost planet, Pluto has a wide spectrum between its lowest and highest expression and this transit will highlight both sides of the coin - power over people and power within people. The last time Pluto was in zero degrees Aquarius was in 1779 - in the middle of the Revolutionary War. It was a time when ideals, freedom, and individualism were more important than the practical components of being a colony under the crown, and also a time when the strength of the human spirit prevailed against all odds.

In the decades ahead, social bonds are likely to form less around practicality and more around ideals and values. Aquarius favors forward thinking and electronics, paving the way for technology to make powerful advancements and hold its place in our day-to-day lives.

While Pluto in Aquarius is sure to bring its own set of troubles, overall, I see this as a positive shift. Generally, Aquarius is much less rigid than Capricorn and better suited to rolling with Pluto’s proverbial punches.

Structural Saturn is still getting washed out as he moves through watery Pisces for the next couple of years, removing the opportunity to build back the old ways of being. It is a time to look toward the horizon with your dreams in hand. When Saturn enters headstrong Aries in 2026 it will favor individuals who are ready to take initiative more than it will benefit government complexes or groups of people. Don’t forget to consider what you want for yourself alongside what you want to see move forward in your community.

2024 is a time to take daydreaming seriously and open yourself to the possibilities that lie ahead. Cheers!
