Eye on the Equinox

The Equinox is a time of starting over. In the next three years, around the time of the Spring Equinox, this effect will be deepened by multiple planets building up in the first and last zodiac signs of Pisces and Aries. The proverbial reset button will be hit on repeat.

While I always think of the Equinox and Solstice as falling on the 21st, this year it is said to come on the 20th. For different parts of the world, the actual date where day and night find equilibrium can be several days different than that. Whichever day it falls on, the Spring Equinox is an undeniable time of change in the natural world - a vibe that is turned all the way up in the coming weeks.

I see eight somewhat troubling aspects occurring right now, not all of which I can cover in this post. Keep in mind that there are positive manifestations of these aspects. As your astrological weather woman, I can say that this storm may be worth bracing for.

Today, March 16, 2023, we see the exact square of Mars in Gemini to a stellium conjunction of Neptune, Mercury, and the Sun in the 25th degree of Pisces. This brings an overload of information coming to light in a fashion that is somewhat disorienting, but can be understood at an intuitive level. Someone is likely to come out a sore loser and active deceit could be in play. This bewildering square reaches its peak today but is still active during the war-prone 0° Aries New Moon March 21st. Mars in 0° Cancer adds to the week’s war signature on March 25th just days after Pluto moves into 0° Aquarius. All of this is piling on top of Saturn in Pisces earth-enveloping storms, floods, and structural dissolution, along with high-tech Pallas’ square to Chiron, Vesta and Jupiter precipitating the financial melt-down of Silicon Valley Bank and the tech start-ups that depended on them.

While Saturn’s move into Pisces begins an influence that will last for two years, Pluto’s move into Aquarius March 23rd will impact us for the next twenty. Pluto is probably the strongest influence that will shape March and the upcoming months and years.

The last time we saw Pluto in zero degrees Capricorn was during the Revolutionary War - a quintessential expression of freedom-loving Aquarius asserting a transformative Plutonian power. Pluto in zero degrees of any sign is intense as we saw when it found 0° Capricorn in 2008 during the financial crisis. Looking back further, Pluto was in and out of zero degrees Leo from 1937-1940 while the Holocaust was underway.

Adding to the pressure, Pluto begins this journey into Aquarius in square with the Lunar Nodes. When outer planets, such as Pluto and Neptune square the nodes, they produce history that is hard to forget. For example, sea god Neptune was square the Nodes when the Titanic sank - forever changing people’s consciousness and regard for the ocean. This isn’t always negative; the world saw it’s first indigenous President with Bolivia’s election of Evo Morales and Liberia elected Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf as Africa’s first female head of state when Pluto squared the Nodes last in 2006. These presented major shifts in the collective consciousness regarding power and who in the world could have it. We now see a very similar square of Pluto to the Nodes as we saw during the Holocaust. The Nodes are hovering between Taurus & Scorpio and Aries & Libra. Whatever unfolds in the coming months and years, I would bet it makes the books.

Both Pluto and the Nodes are 180° inverse from their 1939 position right now. But as 1939 unveiled the gruesome power of one charismatic individual (Leo,) 2023 will bring consciousness about the power of the people (and the power over people) as the sign of Aquarius represents both individuality and humanity itself.

Pluto is a galvanizing force and is not one that can be negotiated. It is the purifying, initiatory fire that waits at the end of one cycle to cleanse and refine us so that we may stand in our true power. We are just coming out of Pluto in Capricorn, where our financial, governmental, and social structures were broken down, tested, transformed, or eliminated. Now, this same transformative pressure will be applied to humanity itself. This will not happen in the flash of a pan, as Pluto’s force is a slow burn - one that cannot simply be waited out. Pluto seeks to destroy what lacks integrity. On an individual level, it is important to become aware of the ways in which you hold power over others unfairly or use your strengths to manipulate people or situations. This is the kind of behavior that will be both boldly displayed, and also rooted out in the next two decades.

I always try to end on a positive note. With so much intensity what is there to anchor us? I want to say a little bit about the high side of Saturn in Pisces because I believe it offers us a path through adversity. Saturn in Pisces opens the door for us to literally bring structure to our deepest dreams and visions. This is done not in linear fashion, but more like the way a crystal forms around unique minerals and circumstances. Consider meditating on the higher truths and ideals that guide us in life, and let them be the mineral seeds that bring beautiful and new structure to our lives and the world.

Blessings,
